A surprise visitor

Here's something you don't see everyday; a Magpie in the fireplace! Not sure who was more surprised, him or me ;)

Heard a vague scritching noise from the chimney area, and then the scritchy scratchy noise got a bit louder. Then I noticed this guy fluttering around behind the fireguard! Good job I was there to get him out...

He really was quite calm about it though, regarding me intently as I approached, and he stopped flapping around completely. When I tried to put my (gloved) hand in with some food, he escaped into the room; luckily he made a break for the window I'd opened beforehand!
